Roundin’ Third, Headed For Home
From Florida to Texas, from Oklahoma to Georgia and everywhere in between, close to 1,100 associates, family members and friends gathered in Cookeville for the annual Averitt Cares for Kids Family Softball Tournament.
The tournament was once again a reminder of Averitt Charities and our special partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In honor of everyone who played, cheered or volunteered for the event, a donation of $70,000 was made to Averitt Charities!
A total of 16 teams – eight men’s and eight co-ed – took the field on a hot and sunny day. On the men’s side, Corporate pulled away late to defeat Cracker Barrel in the championship game. And in the co-ed division, the Truckload 1 squad topped the Safety team for the title.
We want to say a special thank you to tournament organizers Dusty Barrow and Amos Rogan, the nearly 35 volunteers, and the umpires and security who helped make it another successful event. If you weren’t able to make the trip this year, we hope you’ll make plans to join us next year in Cookeville!
